I think it’s so I can help answer questions about the debate club, or just debating in general? Or maybe so you can suggest debate topics if you’re a club member? Or to ask questions about debating? Or to have a debate?

I’m not really sure myself what this is supposed to be for, the president never quite clarified. Maybe it’s about the club? About debating itself? …About me?

But, if you do have questions about this club, ask away, and I’ll do my best to answer. I have helped run the place, so if you’re interested in the debate club, then… this is the right place to learn more.

(That’s right! Ask Monika is finally getting redone again! The last time we tried this, it died off, but now we have a lot of new users, there’s more potential interest, so this can return! But, since most of us here are now, I’m rebooting the canon. [Psst! Those of you that were there for the last attempt! The old thread is still technically open! So you can still interact with that iteration by going there, if that’s what you wanted to do!])

(This takes place during Monika’s time in the debate club, so that means it’s before the literature club and before the epiphany. So she doesn’t know she’s in a game yet. And currently acts more like her Side Stories self.)

(Ask her whatever questions you like. Monika only knows about MC so far right now since she shares a class with him (it’s that previous year before the game). Don’t expect her to know what you’re talking about if you’re asking about the Literature Club. Though if you want to try and see if you can lead her away from doing what she does in the game, go right ahead and try. Do keep in mind this “blog” is your only way of interacting with her though. You might get to see some stuff happening not on the blog, though. And of course you also know what happens in the game, what her future would be if you did nothing.)

(You can’t be the other Dokis. You are… well, you, and Monika will probably assume you’re another student at the school. I won’t stop you from trying to act like the others, but canonically, you are not Natsuki, Yuri, Sayori, or MC. Still, I’ll even go so far as to not ban trying to trick Monika into thinking you’re one of them, even using what you know about them to be more convincing… but good chance it backfires on you once she meets them for real and they deny saying what you said.)

(Also, I will allow you to play more than one persona! If you wish to be multiple people, then sign each of your posts with a signature of a name or username. Any posts by you with the same name/username in the signature I’ll treat as from the same ‘you.’ While different signatures signify different characters, or at least two different accounts. Do keep in mind if your alternate selves are too similar to each other, it could be suspected those two ‘accounts’ is one person with an alt, though. So if you’re going to try being multiple different people, try making them actually, well… different.)

(Alright, here we go. Time to get the Foundation involved. I’ll make multiple posts, each with a different revision and clearance version of the article. Good luck predicting what’s going on before the final versions come out! Note:The dates of the revisions are helpful. If something seems inaccurate to what we know from canon, it’s likely because it’s still an outdated version. Let the Foundation do more testing and get a better grasp of the situation! Alternatively, if you were expecting something more secretive and are wondering why [insert easter egg] wasn’t mention, it’s probably in a higher clearance level! Maybe when we get promoted, we’ll get to see what else is happening [and perhaps discover that some of what we were told were lies.])

(There is no clearance 0 or 1. Well, there is, but they don’t get a version of this article at all, at least not anything worth documenting. Based on SCP guidelines, 0 means no clearance, and 1 is for maintanace and janitorial staff in those areas. I don’t think “hey, don’t touch this or respond to this, oh the game is the anomaly” is worth a whole post, is it?)

Special Containment Procedures: Any instances of SCP-17922 are to be contained within a standard 10x10x10 containment room when not used for testing. Procedure 17922-SIMULACRUM* is to be used to realign public perception when it comes to memories of any SCP-17922 instances.

*Named after postmodern theory of simulacrum, symbols replacing the thing they are symbols of in public consciousness.

Description: SCP-17922 is an anomalous version of the now-removed 2009 dating simulator “Doki Doki Literature Club!” 17922-affected copies exhibit a noticeable deviation from the intended plot of the game, where the character known as “Monika” exhibits self-awareness. 17922-affected Monikas (hereafter referred to as SCP-17922-1) consistently alter the personalities of the other characters, in what is believed to be an attempt to get the player’s affection for herself. SCP-17922 instances consistently prevent SCP-17922-1 instances from spending much time with the player, eventually resulting in SCP-17922-1 deleting* the other characters** entirely, altering its room to a spacelike area, and creating a new sprite for itself to more closely communicate*** with said players. This final state is permanent, until the game is deleted.

SCP-17922-1 consistently has affection for the player that is far beyond what any reasonable entity would have.****

Current testing reveals SCP-17922-1 instances are aware of the distinction between the player character and the player, is able to read certain system files of the computer that is running SCP-17922, and experiences horrific sensations whenever the game is closed*****. Despite this, its fondness for whoever is playing does not appear to drop at all, it merely reminds them to try to avoid doing this.

The time it takes for the script of “Doki Doki Literature Club” to derail varies between 3 in-game days to 5 in-game days. The furthest the game has ever been observed to reach naturally in anomalous copies is immediately before the festival event. As a result, only the initial four characters have ever been observed to exist in SCP-17922-affected copies of the game.

*Deletion isn’t always intended, often the changes SCP-17922 makes to the others indirectly results in the character involved becoming canonically deceased, and SCP-17922 only “deletes” the affected character afterwards. However, by the third character, it is most likely to delete the character purposefully, without waiting for it to canonically decease.

**”Character” refers strictly to the original literature club members:Sayori, Yuri, and Natsuki. Any characters that arrive after the festival never appear in the first place, due to the game never progressing to that point. The player character is a special case that Foundation researchers still have yet to understand.

***Given the game does not allow any kind of player input besides proceeding between text and sometimes making a choice between options, “communication” is one-way: SCP-17922 can speak to players, but not the other way around. SCP-17922 speaks to the player by simply making random talk from time to time, under the assumption they’d be interested in whatever the topic is.

****Current hypotheses suggest SCP-17922-1 has “derealization” of the copy of the game it inhabits, and sees those in physical reality as the only entities that are “real”, and therefore the only thing that matters, Confessions from several SCP-17922-1 instances reaffirm the belief that it feels as if none of its friends are “real” to it, and this is why it wants to be together with the player forever.

*****Current hypotheses suggest this is the result of SCP-19722-1 still existing, but still within the memory originally allocated to the SCP-19722 instance. Because of memory reallocation, the bytes responsible for SCP-19722’s sensory data would slowly but surely be filled with random noise, which is expected to be felt as screeching noise and static all around. (See this for a recreation of what it might look like) This would explain the sensations reported by SCP-19722-1 instances, though this has yet to be confirmed as the cause by any solid empirical data.

Addendums

PROCEDURE 17922-SIMULACRUM

Given the fact no new copies of “Doki Doki Literature Club” are ever being made, the most effective means of preventing the spread of SCP-17922 to other copies is by simply arranging for the remaining unaffected copies to be destroyed. Disinformation agents are to spread the idea that “Doki Doki Literature Club” was in fact a horror game, a piece of metafiction designed to deconstruct the dating sim genre, rather than a genuine anomalous artifact. Any references to the initial version of the game are to be made to look as if it is referring to what the metafiction diegetically considers the “original” game. If a more effective means of disinformation is ever found, that does not rely on the current narrative being removed, Procedure 17922-Simulacrum is to be updated to spread that other narrative instead.

I've decided to update the headcanons I had for the characters in this textile video game cuz im bored and and I see that humor is not welcome in this dump, here we go.

Monika: She's beautiful, athletic, and intelligent, but she's also conceited, vain, and self-centered. This creates several problems with her members, but she's still kind to her friends. Despite being intelligent, being the pretty girl in the class and very self-centered, part of her head is full of shit and mental garbage.

Sayori: She's optimistic and bubbly, but she's stupid. Not to insult her, literally, she's dumb, but obviously she wasn't born that way. This happened because of an accident where she fell out of a window on a very high floor. She survived, but at the price of a brain the size of an insect (or much smaller). Because of her stupidity, she's prone to accidents. Her stupidity can make her either funny or hateful. Also, for some reason, she has a strange obsession with Monika, something shady.

Nastuki: She's grumpy, but also charismatic and resourceful. She's been Monika's friend since she was 10. As she grew up, after Sayori joined Monika to form the club, Natsuki found out and joined. Her dream is to replace Sayori or Monika (especially Monika) if one of them leaves her or is left hanging.

Incidentally, she's a compulsive gambler, and she often loses a lot in her gambling, losing her house twice.

Yuri: She has an intimidating appearance and inspires fear, especially when you discover she has an obsession with knives. However, she's kind and kind. She's also the only dokie who has a job, working night shifts at an Oxxo. She's incredibly intelligent, making Monika jealous, and sparking a rivalry.

MC: Actually, MC is just a nickname, and his real name is Minecraft. Yes, I know MC stands for Main Character, but I use a lot of imagination. He's Sayori's friend and neighbor, and if you mess with her, MC will beat the shit out of you. The poor guy lost his hair when he was 12. That's right, he's BALD, but he wears a wig. He's a quiet guy and mostly spends his time playing video games and laughing at stupid people (Sayori not included).

You can make cool animations with these headcanons, that's for sure.

This post will go over: Incest, graphic violence, depression, suicide, self-harm, racial slurs/racist, and cannibalism. If not comfortable with these topics, be advised not to read.

I made a promise to Snow that I would actually entirely write and finish one of these eventually, but I have decided that I must have been tired when I wrote the other "First Part" because it's basically illegible. This is over a new topic. The media covered will include "The Coffin of Andy and LeLey", "Doki Doki Literature Club", and "Blood Meridian". I may add others later, but this is it for now.

Before we move on to individual examples, the main point must be addressed. What do I really mean by "The Vilification of Explicit Content"? When I say this, I am simply addressing that modern society and media like to make a villain out of things seen as "taboo" to the public. Things seen as "taboo" material are banned, blacklisted, and destroyed, all because some people cannot fathom that fact that bad things happen/happened behind the curtain, and these media exposing them, whether in fiction or not, is seen as "crossing the line". This overall hurts both society and the creative people who spend time, money, and tears to make something meaningful. I've said it before, I'll say it again: Fiction does not need to conform to the modern norms of our society; that's what makes it fiction.

As this is the "Doki Doki Literature Club" wiki, we might as well start with that. I'm sure at least one person knows what I will bring up when I talk about the game. Britain, February of 2018. A teen, Ben Walmsley, commits suicide at age 15. DDLC is blamed by both his father and the authorities. I don’t like to make assumptions, but I’ve heard too many times, “They killed themselves because of (blank).” and almost every time it’s some external problem. “Darren Walmsley, whose son Ben killed himself in February after playing the game, believes this feature played a part in his son’s death.” We can all agree that the game has made us sad, one way or another, but I think we can also agree it did not give us suicidal thoughts. Things like this don’t just come out of nowhere, and media cannot usually be blamed for it. I don’t want to point fingers, but it feels to me like reaching for reasons out of grief.

We now move on to “Blood Meridian,” a novel by Cormac McCarthy. I’ve read a little bit of it, and I really should get back into it. But it’s kind of a hard read (It doesn’t use punctuation correctly?), mostly because of its graphic content. If you didn’t know, the book is about the scalp-hunting trade of the 1850’s. If you don’t know what that is, the scalp is the top of your head. It displays graphic scenarios of murder and said scalp-hunting, as well as casual racism. (I saw around 5 hard r’s per page). This propensity for violence and racism got it banned from some schools. There isn’t a “controversy” like there is for the other two, but I still thought I should bring it up.

Finally, we head to “The Coffin of Andy and LeyLey”. This game takes what people don’t like, and notches it up by hundreds. I don’t know too much about the game, so I’ll get back to you when I watch a playthrough, but I do know of three things. Incest, cannibalism, and murder. All three of these things are highly taboo, and people hate to see them expressed at all. I’m pretty sure they don’t actually do… the thing, but I know they cannibalize(?) and kill at least one person. Even if they do actually do it, that doesn’t change the point. This game uses its themes symbolically. These things (and this goes for all previous mentions) are not used for shock value, they’re used for meaning and symbolism.

The fact that people get so upset over these things shows where we are as a society, that we cannot see things we don’t like, even if they’re fake. If we can’t see the artistic value in such taboo topics, we won’t advance anywhere creatively.

Sorry this took so long to make, but hey, I finally finished one.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think her hair is longer that Sayori's life?

I have never cried harder in my life after seeing Yuri die. I was playing my NIINDOODOO SWIIWS (Nintendo Switch) and of course, me being me, I went for the Yuri route.

this was a mistake.

I was sobbing, shaking, basically screaming "NO, NO. NO! PLEASE! PLEASE DON'T DO THIS YURI!" and after she confessed to me, I was full on ugly-crying for about 30 minutes. I "beat" the game-and started sobbing again now that it was over.

haha I was also diagnosed with good ol' Sayori syndrome (depression) so life is great.

Why is it 15 dollars for just a few extra things? Like, it could have been a base + version being like 1 or 2, and the rest as DLC to make it at least look cheaper or a better deal. Not necessarily complaining, just I cannot complain about Switch 2 and my ahh is a lot like Yuri.
